The George Q. - George Cannon Family Reunion at "This is the Place" Park in Salt Lake City
The George Cannon Family held a reunion at "This is the Place" Park at 2601 East Sunnyside Avenue in Salt Lake City on October 8, 2005. About 100 people attended the dinner. There was a small program in conjunction with the dinner. Copies of the "Cannon Family Historical Treasury" were available for purchase. A new book called "Presiding Bishops" Compiled by Michael K. Winder is available at Eborn Books in Salt Lake City. This book is very fascinating and has a well written chapter on the life of Sylvester Q. Cannon written by Jedediah Smart Rogers.
- Cemetery Restoration Project
A project to improve and level the grounds surrounding the burial plots of Sylvester Q. Cannon and Winnifred Saville Cannon in the Cannon family plot area in the Salt Lake City Cemetery is finished. This project was instigated by grandson Stuart Q. Cannon. Our appreciation is extended to him and the many other family members who donated to help cover the costs involved.
